Advocating for Students – A Win-Win Payment Plan

One of the highlights this month was receiving acknowledgment from the university’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for my role in advocating for a student-friendly tuition fee payment plan and its implementation at the University of Sunderland. This initiative has proven to be a “win-win” solution — a collaborative effort in easing the financial pressure on students while ensuring a sustainable approach for the university. I am so excited seeing this plan come to life and its positive impact on our students is a milestone worth celebrating!

Election Week & Your SU Result Night

March also saw an incredible Elections week for Your SU, with students actively shaping the future of their union. It was inspiring to witness the passion and commitment of all five candidates going about their campaigns on campus. Congratulations to the newly elected Presidents for both Sunderland (Ade Adeoye) and London (Suraj Acharya) campuses for the 2025/2026 academic year!

I have no doubt that their leadership will drive student-led change, and I look forward to seeing what they achieve through our newly adopted community organising structure.

HX4 Building Grand Opening – A Step Forward for Student Facilities

I was honoured to be an invited guest at the grand opening of the HX4 Building at our London Campus. The state-of-the-art facilities in this new space highlight the university’s investment in enhancing the students’ experience. This is a major step forward in providing top-tier learning environments, and I’m excited about the opportunities it will bring for students.

March has been a month of progress, collaboration, and student-led achievements. As we step into the coming months, I remain committed to ensuring students' voices are heard and their needs are met. Let’s keep pushing forward—together!
